📊 Exploring Basic Options StrategiesOptions are contracts that grant buyers the right, but not the obligation, to buy or sell a security at a predetermined price in the future. Buyers pay a premium for this privilege. If market conditions are unfavorable, option holders can let the option expire without exercising it, limiting potential losses to the premium paid. Options are categorized as "call" or "put" contracts, allowing buyers to purchase or sell the underlying asset at a specified price. Beginner investors can employ various strategies using calls or puts to manage risk, including directional bets and hedging techniques.
🔹 Buying Calls (Long Calls)
Trading options offers advantages for those who want to make a directional bet in the market. It allows traders to buy call options, which require less capital than purchasing the underlying asset, and limits losses to the premium paid if the price goes down. This strategy is suitable for traders who are confident about a specific stock, ETF, or index fund and want to manage risk. Additionally, options provide leverage, enabling traders to amplify potential gains by using smaller amounts of capital compared to trading the underlying asset directly. For example, instead of investing $10,000 to buy 100 shares of a $100 stock, traders can spend $2,000 on a call contract with a strike price 10% higher than the current market price.
🔹 Buying Puts (Long Puts)
Put options provide the holder with the right to sell the underlying asset at a predetermined price before the contract expires. This strategy is favored by traders who hold a bearish view on a specific stock, ETF, or index but want to limit their risk compared to short-selling. It also allows traders to utilize leverage to capitalize on declining prices. Unlike call options that benefit from price increases, put options increase in value as the underlying asset's price decreases. While short-selling also profits from price declines, the risk is unlimited as prices can theoretically rise infinitely. In contrast, if the underlying asset's price exceeds the strike price of a put option, the option simply expires without value.
🔹 Covered Calls
A covered call strategy involves selling a call option on an existing long position in the underlying asset. This approach is different from simply buying a call or put option. Traders who use covered calls expect little or no change in the underlying asset's price and want to collect the option premium as income. They are willing to limit the upside potential of their position in exchange for some downside protection.
🔹 Risk/Reward
A long straddle strategy involves purchasing both a call option and a put option simultaneously. While the cost of a long straddle is higher than buying either a call or put option alone, the maximum potential loss is limited to the amount paid for the straddle. On the other hand, the potential reward is theoretically unlimited on the upside. However, the downside is capped at the strike price. For example, if you own a $20 straddle and the stock price drops to zero, the maximum profit you can make is $20.

AUTL Is this a pump and dump?AUTL on the one-hour chart had a spontaneous parabolic move without a catalyst as best as
I can tell. Earnings ten days ago were decent but nothing special. AUTL as a biotech firm is
losing cash just not as much as analysts predicted. In the parabolic move very few shares
were traded between $2.00 and $2.40 as per the volume profile Overall a massive volume
occurred compared with the entire year although there was a bit in the runup to earnings.
I suspect a pump and dump and think it might be worth playing. Insiders could be
manipulating the shares and acting as a team. The zero-lag MACD suggests that the top has
been reached. I believe that insiders will be selling quickly and short sellers will be
joining in. I will be one of the latter. Retail buyers could be stuck bag holding if caught
by surprise. Once price drops to $4.00 the bearish momentum will kick in due to the
volume void on the profile. Accordingly, I will buy a group of call options when
AUTL hits $4.05 set a stop loss and await the flush back down to $2.00. If things go
well this will be over a 100% return on investment and 300% return on risk in one day.
The contracts for 6/16 ( $5.00) are about $250 with about 25% spread between the bid
and ask.

NKLA Is Nikola puting in a bottom ?NKLA is trying to make an all time low. Fundamentally, the last earnings were okay. Some members of
the board are retiring soon. Technically, the relative selling volume is much higher than the moving 50 day average.
The zero lag MACD shows no bullish divergence suggesting that that there is no impending reversal. The
indicators K/D lines have not crossed indicating the moving average compression / convergence are continuing.
Price has fallen outside the Bollinger Bands. NKLA finished out the week with some engulfing bear candles
on the news of instability on its governing board. This is unlike the candlestick pattern when NKLA did minor
pullbacks on the downtrend foreseen by small body red candles to setup up the minor pullbacks.
All in all, as a penny stock, this is probably not shortable but it does have put options for $23.00 per contract
for the $1.00 strike DTE 5 with a spread of 5% with high volatility and open interest ( reasonable liquidity) I will
take a put option trade of several contracts targeting 50% return and setting a stop loss at 10%.
I have always found it helpful to have some naked puts in the portfolio so when the general market of SPY / QQQ reverses t
o the downside they can help the put options capture some profit in the synergy.

UPS United Parcel Service Options Ahead of EarningsMy recent experience with those global package delivery companies was extremely painful. The have raised their prices a lot, on some occasions you pay the same price to send something to another country than taking the trip yourself and deliver that package in person.
So i have tried to avoid UPS, like many of you, and go for smaller unknown companies. I think this attitude will reflect in the upcoming earnings.
Looking at the UPS United Parcel Services options chain, i would buy the $160 strike price Puts with
2022-11-4 expiration date for about
$4.85 premium.

MRVL Reaching new all time highsMRVL is at a new all time high following this massive trend from it's COVID DIP having only two small false breaks past the trend line in yellow and as you can see it's recently broken past a new resistance line however if we focus on the indicators to track out new potential it shows both on the RSI and Stochastic that we are nearing a selling period if we pair that with the candle's we can see that the buyers are running out of steam as the green candles are getting smaller and smaller as we near the top potentially giving us a sign that a put option would be in order to ride down to find a new floor before we make our way back up.
